Stump Grinding vs Stump Removal: Which Do You Need?

Stump grinding
A grinder turns the stump into chips, 15–30cm below ground level. Fast, cheap, minimal disturbance. Roots stay in place and decompose over a few years.
Full stump removal
We dig out the entire stump and root ball. Slower, more expensive, much bigger hole. Necessary only when you're building over the spot or planting another tree on the exact same location.
Quick rule
- Replanting nearby? Grind.
- Paving / lawn over it? Grind.
- Pouring foundations on the spot? Remove.
